I hardly knew Chase. But on February 4th, he committed suicide, JUST before his birthday. Kids at school were mean to him, but he had friends. A boy told him to "go roll over and die", and on that night, he did.
Chase was one of the happiest kids out there, with a great sense of humor and a kind, generous family. He had a mother, Jennifer, father, Tad, and 1st grade brother Ethan. They were a normal, happy family. He was apparently very upset that night.
When they announced it at school, everyone's jaws dropped. About 5 minutes later, after we got the idea into our heads, EVERYBODY's face fell and about half of them started crying. He was a sixth grader, and all of his classmates were too upset to do anything. He played the trombone in the school band.
Whenever we think about him, there will be tears, but behind them, broad smiles. Thinking about all the memories he made, and all the laughs he got into his short lifetime, it'll make your day.

i never knew you but i fell like i grew up with you. i came to chatham the year after your death. you were more cared about than you knew. its been 2 years and people still cry. i friends with most of the friends you had and they really miss you. a year after your death we lost another classmate in our grade.both your deaths changed our grade like you wouldnt beleave. were in high shcool now and none of the other grades understand why the freshmen our so close to each other. there is very rarely any bulling anmore basicully none at all. we all learned to care about each other as classmates like ive never felt at any other school.were baslly a huge family of 300 kids. we love you and miss you.

I don't know you Chase, or your family. I live an ocean away from you and yet I totally understand what you went through. We share too much in common. My name is also Chase and at 12 I was bullied too... I didn't have the courage to kill myself. I look at your memorial and all I can think of is what you might have become if the bullies had not got to you. I wish I had known you and been able to show you that it is possible to survive the bullies. I know that it was your time to go, but I look at you and I see myself at your age. I very easily could have taken your route. I will always wonder what if, and I will always remember you and your story. I pray that you have found the peace in death that you couldn't find in life.
